Technology

Technology

1. What it is?

   • It is branch of science that uses technical and scientific knowledge to create products that satisfy human needs

2. who makes it? and where?

   • The technologists
     • investigator
     • technician
   • In the research centres
     • Spain (Superior Council of Scientific Investigations)
     • USA (NASA space centre)
     • Tokyo (Tokyo Technological Institute)

3. technological process

   • 1. Statement of the technological problem
   • 3. Design of possible solutions
     • Prototype designs
       • The first idea is very important but you have to make it real
       • computer simulation: predict mechanical behavior using software
         • mechanial
         • electric
         • pneumatic and hydraulic
   • 4. Prototype construccion
     • it is manufacturing of the first physical model of the original technological idea with reduced scale
       • low fidelity: low quality materials (cardboard, clay, etc)
       • high fidelity
         • plastic resins
         • 3D printing
   • 5. Prototype evaluation
     • Technical documentation: collects all information related to the technological process
       • title page
       • technical specifications
       • prototype design
       • process sheets
       • list of materials
       • list of tools
       • escheme
       • technical calculations
       • technical diary
       • project evaluation
   • 7. Product commercialization
     • consists of presenting the product in an attractive way to the buyers (marketing) and choosing the most appropriate way to distribute it
       • The technical office is yhe responsible of this process
   • 6. Final product fabrication
     • with it you get a product from some raw materials
       • serial production
       • flexible production
     • standardization: establish specializations common to all products
     • quality control: it consists of detecting errors in the products
   • 2. Search for information
