1. Choosing an email address

   • Think of the future
     • Your future employers will not have a high opinion of someone who's email address is something like cuteemoji@puppy.co.uk, for example.
   • Do something that is easy to remember.
     • Putting your name for your email address is a good idea, because you will never forget it! However, it does make it predictable.
   • Personal information
     • Do not put things like your date of birth in your email address, because then a phisher, for example, knows more private information. This is especially bad if you are young, because bad people will target you.

2. Pros of emails

   • Can send to multiple recipients at once.
   • Can send attachments
   • Sent instantly at any time
   • Can request a receipt that the email has been read
   • Can request a receipt that the email has been read

3. Cons of emails

   • You can be spammed (when people send lots of unecessary emails that clutter up your inbox).
   • People can send you viruses that attack your device when you open the email.
   • Phishers send fake emails to try and scam money off you (see other mind map).
   • If you do not have internet you cannot access, send or reply to emails.
   • The recipient has to log onto their emails often to see new messages, so it will be annoying if they don't.
