Super Smash Bros Algorithm
Prescribed criteria
- 1. Develop an Algorithm using Pseudocode conventions
- Develop an algorithm for one of the Nintendo games- Super Smash Bros or Mario Kart.
- Pseudocode must be used in the algorithm. Such as all keywords must be written in bold and capital, use indentation when a code belongs to a particular block of code, START and END should be at the beginning and the end of the algorithm.
- Example keywords for pseudocode- IF/IF ELSE, IS EQUAL TO, START,END, THEN, WHILE
- Super Smash Bros
- o Develop an ultimate high damage finishing offensive strategy to eliminate the opponent
- Use five (5) conditions (IF, ELSEIF, ELSE) in your pseudocode
- o Use at least five different attack moves (Side Special Move, Final Smash, Down Special Move, Slide etc)
- Example offensive moves of King Kong Down tilt- 6% Floor Attack- 8%
- The pseudocode must include 5 unique moves to damage the opponent using IF, ELIF and ELSE.
- Side tilt- 7% Hammer Knuckle- 16% Forward Smash- 22%
- 1. Develop an Algorithm using Pseudocode conventions
Algorithm constructs
- iterations
- An iteration is used when something is repeated over and over again, so the program goes round in a loop. There are three types, do while loop, while loop and for loop.
- A wolf or snake appearing across different individual games in the series depending on what level you reach
- An iteration is used when something is repeated over and over again, so the program goes round in a loop. There are three types, do while loop, while loop and for loop.
- selection
- selection allows a program to choose between different actions instead of running instructions in order.
- THEN jump up. In this example, if the distance is less than 3, then the character performs an uppercut. This is the slection made by the program.
- selection allows a program to choose between different actions instead of running instructions in order.
- sequence
- A sequence is the specific order where instructions are executed step-by-step with computer programming.
- For example :• Step 1: Grab your opponent and press Down on the left joystick. • Step 2: Press Jump and A at the same time while holding Up on the left joystick. • Step 3: Press Up + B the moment Mario lands.
- e.g. sequence for final smash: uppercut, kick, smash, push, pull, punch, stomp.
- A sequence is the specific order where instructions are executed step-by-step with computer programming.
- assignment
- An assignment stores a specific value or piece of data inside a designated variable.
- e.g. player_name = Toad. Here the variable name is player_name, and the value assigned to it is Toad.
- An assignment stores a specific value or piece of data inside a designated variable.
- condidtion
- a condition is a logical test that evaluates true of false. It sets out the condition that must be true in order for the program to keep moving
- e.g. IF distance < 3. Here the condition is that the distance must be less than 3 for the next step to follow.
- a condition is a logical test that evaluates true of false. It sets out the condition that must be true in order for the program to keep moving
- iterations
chosen character moves
- King Kong (Forward Smash): This devastating signature finisher unleashes massive kinetic force to deliver 22% damage and launch opponents across the stage.
- King Kong (Down Tilt): This low-profile ground move inflicts 6% damage while targeting the opponent's feet to control space along the floor.
- King Kong (Side Tilt): This forward-reaching swipe deals 7% damage to keep opponents at a distance during neutral ground exchanges.
- King Kong (Attack): This standard neutral strike delivers a solid 8% damage to quickly punish nearby enemies and reset the neutral game.
- • King Kong (Hammer Knuckle): This heavy, overhead strike hammers down to inflict 16% damage and force a hard knockdown on defensive targets.
hardware
- screen
- the electronic display panel and touch-input layer used in their handheld and hybrid game systems
- joycon remote
- these allow detachable wireless game control
- joycon holder
- a plastic shell accessory that combines the left and right Nintendo Switch Joy-Con controllers into a single, traditional-style gamepad
- nintendo switch
- START FOR 4 steps INPUT Jump and go forward ENDFOR END In this example the FOR statement instructs the programming to loop.
- SSB game card or download game
- the physical Nintendo Switch game cartridge for Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, a historical promotional card game, or physical collector trading cards.
- screen
super smash bros game
- Knockout System: You win by pushing players off the screen, not by draining health bars.
- Damage Meter: Getting hit raises your damage percentage; higher percentages mean you fly farther when struck.
- The main goal of the game is to knock your opponents completely off the stage into the screen's outer boundaries.
character choices
- toad
- pros:
- extremely fast!
- Flat Damage Output (beofre 'dying' toad can take up to 18% of damage)
- cons:
- not a standalone playable fighter
- Lightweight and Fragile
- pros:
- kong
- pros:
- exceptional raw power, surprising mobility for a heavyweight, and a devastating grab/cargo-throw game
- Exceptional KO Power and Damage
- cons:
- massive physical size, poor defensive options, and exploitable recovery
- Large Hurtbox and Combo Vulnerability:
- pros:
- toad
