1. Change the default admin password on the router

2. Set up some form of encryption

   • Encryption scrambles data so only computers with the right key can read it
     • WEP
     • WPA-PSK - more secure
     • WPA2 - more secure

3. Set up Media Access Control (MAC) address filtering

   • Specify which addresses can connect to your wireless network

4. Hide router

   • Stop router broadcasting its Service Set Identifier (SSID)

5. Turn off router

   • When not in use
