Motion

Motion is the movement of something from one place to another.

Almost everything around us has been, is, or will be in motion.

Motion is relative, meaning if you are going the same speed as something it may not seem like it is moving.

Motion relies on a reference point, so for example, even though the world is spinning almost everything is spinning along with it. So it doesn't feel like it is spinning.

Speed consists of how fast something is going in a certain amount of time.

In a specific unit called SI units Meters are used to measure distance.

Seconds are used to measure time.

Meters per second are used to measure speed.

You can find the average speed by creating a chart of the speeds it slows down to and speeds up to.

You can find another component of speed called the Instantaneous speed. Which is the speed of something at any given time.

Velocity is like speed because it includes direction.

Your velocity can change depending on what direction you're going.

Acceleration is speed and velocity in one concept.

It signifies anytime that something slows down, speeds up, or turns any direction.

You feel the acceleration of the car when it turns.

Acceleration is a positive force, which is why the gas is the Acceleration pedal and the break is the acceleration pedal.
