Used: after z, after "with" (omitted in Polish), after the verbs "być", " interesować się", "zostać", etc., after prepositions, for time or location, and as a logical subject.

-Mieszkam z kolegami i z psem

-Piszę długopisem

-Ona jest nauczycielką

-Ja interesuje się sportem a ona muzyką

-Mieszkam nad morzem

Masculine

-words ending in -consonants: adds -em

-kot > kotem

-dom > domem

-words ending in -ie- + consonant: removes -ie- and adds -em

-pies > psem

-ojciec > ojcem

-words ending in -ó + consonant: adds -o- and -em

-pokój > pokojem

-samochód > samochodem

-words ending with soft consonants, -ś, -ć, -ń, -ź: adds -si-, -ci-, -ni-, -zi- and -em

-koń > koniem

-gość > gościem

-words ending with -g or -k: adds -iem

-zegarek > zegarkiem

-pociąg > pociągiem

Neutral

-words ending in -e or -o: adds -em

-miejsce > miejscem

-piwo > piwem

Feminine

-words ending in -i: add ą

-pani > panią

-words ending with soft consonants, -ś, -ć, -ń, -ź: adds -si-, -ci-, -ni-, -zi- and - ą

-kość > kością

-uroczystość > uroczystością

ALL

-words ending in -a: replace with -ą

-mama > mamą
