Prejudice and Discrimination

Bad karma if they are prejudice or discriminate towards someone

They believe in equanimity which means equality for everyone

There is no difference between each human because of Anatta - we are all one with no individual self which means we are all the same

Wealth and Poverty

Buddhist's should show Karuna (compassion) to all those in poverty because of Anatta

Some thinks wealth can lead to Dukkha because want and craving is caused by Tanha in the four nobel truths

Monks in the Sangha live a simple life and do not handle money

The Buddha found enlightenment in the middle way

'Right Action'

Buddhist Global Relief - alleviate the suffering of the poor and disadvantages particularly in times for disaster like natural disasters. Also helps long term in LEDCs with malnutrition.

The Environment

Everything is interrelated so we rely on each other. Humans need animals to survive and animals need humans, this means we should respect each other.

'Right Mindfulness' - this means we should think about our actions causing harm and damage to nature and the environment

'I abstain from taking life' - animals and humans are the same as everything is reborn into a life until we reach nirvana.

Show Metta and Kaurna towards animals and nature because it shows Ahimsa which is the idea of doing no harm

Destroying natural habitats is taking something away which is not ours this goes against the precept of 'taking what is not given'

Some Buddhists accept the change in nature as the world is changing and growing and without the resources we wouldn't be able to survive

Animal Rights

'Abstain from taking life'

'Right livelihood' e.g. working in a circus or butcher

The process of Anatta - this means animals could have been your family. This is why some buddhists are vegetarian like monks.
