- leaf capital at the top - 3—Temple of Apollo (Iktinus, Bassae, Greece)
- Unusual north entrance, with a north-south orientation
- Doric peristyle, Ionic supporting porch & as attached columns in the cella, Corinthian at the back symbolizing Leto giving birth to Apollo
- 4Hellenistic Art & Architecture- To serve empire; individuals mean little
- Classical: equipoise, serenity, naturalism, ideal

- Hellenistic: dynamism, pathos, pity & compassion, particular
- ex- Laocoon (25 BCE)
- Fascination with sensual, sexual, emotion, drama

- Exterior appearance concealed an interior of suspense & surprise
- Ionic columns
No apparent entrance
- Small pro-style temple inside larger structure
- 6—Sanctuary of Athena (Lindos, Greece)
- Manipulation of spaces orchestrates movement through whole complexes
- Greater emphasis on axial symmetry
- More rectilinear and grid-like compositions
- 7—Miletus (Turkey)
- Designed by Hippodamus
- Rectilinear city blocks oriented to fit the landscape
- Agoras containing public buildings connect zones of housing & harbors
- 8—Priene (Turkey)
- Layout of whole colonial communities & razed settlements tended to lead to rectilinear grid plans
- The grid struggled with the environment, which was not flat
- Some streets had to be turned into stairs
- 9—Pergamon (Turkey)
- Series of self-contained complexes arranged into an overall unified composition of solids and voids
- Terraces that seem to grow out of the landscape
- Imaginative use of axial symmetries and irregular configurations in one composition
