3. Creamy & warm to shrill & menacing.
4. Low Register = Thick & Reedy,
High register = Mournful & Skittish. - 9any other things worth noticing 1. Clarinet? 2. Bassoon?1. the b flat clarinet is the most commonly played clarinet but the a clarinet is sometimes required. on a clarinet there are to registers the chalumeau register, which goes to the break (approximately the third line) and the clarino which is above that.
2. Because of its great length the bassoon is doubled back on itself, and has a projecting mouth piece that houses the double reed. - 10anything else worth noticing. 1. Clarinet? 2. the pitch f the sound produced equals the natural frequency of the air column, and this is dependent on the length of the air column activated.
different pitches can be achieved when the fingers depress keys which open or close holes along the side of the instrument, thus altering the length of the air column.
the longer the column of air is, the slower the natural frequency, and the lower the pitch.
by tightening the lips a little and adjusting breath control (a technique called over blowing), a player can produce a higher harmonic of the lowest natural frequency, ie., a note an octave or more higher than the normal note for that fingering.
the timbre of the tone largely depends on the shape of the instrument (conical or cylindrical) and the nature of the mouthpiece. - 12more stuffearly woodwind instruments mostly had six holes for the players fingers to determine the pitch of the notes. perhaps the most innovative wind instrument maker of the nineteenth century was Theobald Boehm, who devised a series of keys that allowed the holes to be in a proper acoustical position while ensuring that the key were in practical reach of the players fingers. most orchestral wind instruments today use Boehm's system.
