Before the English Civil War, King Charles I and Parliament kept having arguments. this led to [blank_start]Oliver Cromwell[blank_end] and Parliament to declare war on the Royalists in [blank_start]1642[blank_end]. By 1647, Charles I had been captured but escaped later and put on house arrest. As the Civil War continued, Charles was again captured in 1648 and his son, Charles II fled to France.
