- -Greatest Common Factor
-
- - Type of factoring that uses distributive property to factor polynomials with four terms. You can factor polynomials by grouping it into two groups and factoring the GCF out of each group.
- Factor by Grouping: x3 +4x2 +6x+&24
- Given a polynomial with four terms, group the terms into two groups of two
- (x3 &+&4x2 )&(+&6x&+&24)
- •Factor out the GCF from both groups. x2 (x&+&4)&+&6&(x&+&4)
- Now factor out the common factor (in this case, x+4). (x+4)&(x2 +6)
- So,x3 +4x2 +6x+24=(x+4)(x2 +6)
-

- The product of conjugates make a pattern called difference of squares.
