    Carbohydrates
'Carbohydrate' means 'hydrated carbon' because each carbon in a carbohydrate molecule has water attached to it Carbohydrates have the general formula Cx(H2O)n and include starch and sugars. A carbohydrate is a very long molecule (polymer) made up of lots of smaller molecules (monomer) ------------> 2 monosaccharides join with a condensation reaction to create a disaccharide. This process continues until you get a polysachharide.
