Ex ante explanation before the decision was made can logically address only systems functionality, as the rationale of a specific decision cannot be known before the decision is made
Ex post explanation after the decision was made occurs after an automated decision has taken place. Ex post explanation can address both systems functionality and the rationale of a specific deciosion
