Computer systems

1. Input devices - Something which allows you to enter data into a computer

   • Keyboard- Allows the user to enter data by pressing the keys on the keyboard
   • Microphone- the microphone system picks up sound and converts it into digital input data (via the sound card or chip)
   • A mouse- a small handheld device which is moved across a mat or flat surface to move the cursor on a computer screen

2. Output devices- an output device is something that gives out data from a computer system

   • Laser Printer: A laser printer is a printer that uses a focused beam or light to transfer text and images onto paper.
   • 3D Printer: 3D printers use a process called additive manufacturing to form (or "print") physical objects layer by layer until the model is complete. This is different than subtractive manufacturing, in which a machine reshapes or removes material from an existing mold.
   • Ink Jet Printer: a printer in which the characters are formed by minute jets of ink
   • Projector-a device that is used to project rays of light, especially an apparatus with a system of lenses for projecting slides or film on to a screen.

3. Touch screen- the touch screen picks up your finger movements on the screen and produces input data for the computer system to act upon

4. Storage Devices- a type of processor the holds data

   • CD-A compact disc is a portable storage medium that can be used to record, store and play back audio, video and other data in digital form
   • Memory Stick-Memory Stick is a type of flash memory developed by Sony. It is used to store data for digital cameras, camcorders, and other kinds of electronics. Because Memory Stick is a proprietary Sony product, it is used by nearly all of Sony's products that use flash media.
   • Power Bank- Portable Power Banks are comprised of a special battery in a special case with a special circuit to control power flow. They allow you to store electrical energy (deposit it in the bank) and then later use it to charge up a mobile device (withdraw it from the bank).
   • DVD-a type of compact disc able to store large amounts of data, especially high-resolution audiovisual material.
