1. Roots

   • anchor plants, absorb minerals and water, adds structural support
   • Fibrous (Monocotyledon)
     • thin roots spread out below the soil surface
     • Example: Grasses
   • Taproots (Dicotyledons)
     • one large vertical root with many smaller branches
     • Example: Carrots

2. Shoots

   • Stem
     • part of plant, supports leaves and flowers
   • Nodes
     • points on the steam at which eaves are attached
   • Internodes
     • the portion of the steam between the nodes
