1. Batch Processing systems

   • This is the execution of a series of jobs in a program on a computer without manual intervention. Strictly speaking, it is a processing mode. This is usually done at nights or weekends

2. Multi-access systens

   • A large mainframe computer may have a number of workstations connected directly to it. This will be used for when multiple people work on the same computer at the same time

3. Real-time systems

   • Data is processed as soon as t is input into real-time system. A process control system is an example of a real-time system. Sensors monitor a process by taking environmental measurements and sending them to the computer as input

4. Real-time transaction proccessing

   • Another type of real-time system involves transactions . Everytime an item is sold or bought, or a booking is made, the data from the user is processed immediately. this may involve updating some data held in a record of a database. The transaction are processed in the order they are received and each transaction is completed before the next one is processed
