Unit 2.4 Computational Logic

1. Why and How computers use Binary

   • RAM - RAM uses charged or uncharged capacitors to show it
   • Hard Disk - Hard Disks use different levels of magnetism
   • Optical Discs - Uses whether or not it reflects light
   • Solid States Drives use a flow of electrons to show information
   • We use binary to store data in smaller chunks called bits.

   • A AND B
   • A OR B
   • NOT A

3. Logic Gates and Truth Tables

   • Basic Logic Gates
   • Truth Tables for Basic Logic Gates
     • AND Gate
     • OR Gate
     • NOT Gate
   • When creating a truth table: Number of Rows needed = 2 ^ Number of Inputs
   • Complex Logic Gates
