1. Feasibility Study

   • Is it possible? - use TELOS
     • Technical
     • Economical
     • Legislation
     • Operation
     • Schedule

2. Analysis

   • What will the software need to do?
     • Use interviews/questionaires or use existing documents - known specifications and needs
     • Draw diagrams to identify processes and data flow. Data dictionaires capture what each data item looks like.
     • End product is reaching specification and user requirements.

3. Design

   • Input and output screens
   • How data will be processed (using algorithms)
   • How software will be tested

4. Implement

   • Code + Test software
   • Writing documentation for whoeevr needs to maintain software (e.g. user guide).
   • Installing software for user

5. Evaluation

   • Software tested against original specification (called acceptance testing)
   • Uses CAP:
     • Corrective Maintenence - fix issues that appear
       • Adaptive Maintenence - changing the software to meet new specifications
         • Perfective Maintenence - chanign software to meet user requests (e.g. performance updates).
