   • rationalists/ dualists argue that the mind could develop without the body, Piaget believes the body is the vehicle for initial cog. dev.
     • e.g. robot cannot be both a "blank slate" nor "fully programmed"
   • Knowledge development refers to development of logico-mathematical knowledge
   • true knowledge is self constructed
   • Knowledge cannot be passively obtained from observation
     • knowledge of all our logico-mathematical thinking springs from the development of 3 types of action schema
