1. KPD

   • Communist party of Germany
   • Believed in communism and disagreed with the Weimar Republic
   • Main supporters were poorer civilians who felt they would be better off if Germany was communist
   • More popular after 1929

2. SPD

   • Social Democratic Party of Germany
   • Strongest supporter of the Weimar Republic
   • Very popular party in Germany
   • Mainly working and middle class families

3. DDP

   • German Democratic Party
   • Less extreme left-wing group who were in favour of the Weimar Republic as the democratic system was closer to their beliefs.
   • Their supporters consisted of liberal intellectuals and businessmen.

4. Z

   • Centre Party
   • Catholic Party that was in favour of the Weimar Republic up until 1930.
   • Took part in Weimar governments up to 1932
   • Supporters are mainly Catholics and lower class

5. DVP

   • German People's Party
   • Right wing party opposed the Weimar Republic
   • Most supporters came from the middle class and employers.
   • Founded in 1918
   • Leader was Gustav Stresmann who later resigned due to the restrictions on Germany that the treaty of Versailles would have imposed on Germany

6. DNVP

   • German National People's Party
   • Right wing group that objected to the Weimar Republic and the signing of the Treaty of Versailes as they opposed democracy and felt that the Treat imposed on the pride of Germany
   • Support came from the higher classes.
   • Formed in 1918

7. NSDAP

   • Nazis
   • Extreme right wing group, nationalist party who were strongly opposed towards the Weimar Republic.
   • Used violent tactics and this gained them many supporters from the high class
   • Formed in 1919
