1. Act 1, Scene 3

   • "Thou shalt be king hereafter"
     • the witches suggest that mb will be the king, but don't tell him how he will become it.
     • they are trying to get Macbeth into trouble
   • "thou shall get kings, though thou shall not be one"
     • the witches tell Banquo that he will not become king but his children will be.
     • this is there way of confusing both Macbeth and banquo

2. act 1, scene5

   • "unsex me here"
     • lady mb is suggesting that she wants to be made less of a woman so she is capable of murdering
   • "too full of the milk of human kindness to catchthe nearest way"
     • Lady ms is suggesting that mb isnt capable of murdering because he is too pure

3. Act 3, Scene 4

   • "i am in blood stepped in so far that, should i wade no more, returning were as tedius as go o're"
     • Macbeth here, is implying that he has gone to far and it doesnt matter what he does next because he already has gone too far
     • the word tedius means that his life is going too slow and it is boring him.

4. Act 2, Scene 1

   • 'that summons thee to heaven or hell'
     • Macbeth has been pushed to kill with the help of the dagger and also his ambitious wife
     • Macbeth has made up his mind and has decided to go and kill the king.
   • 'is this a dagger which I see before me?...'
     • this shows the audience that Macbeth is now seeing things that persuades him to kill Duncan.
     • this also shows that Macbeth cannot control his own mind anymore
