Roles within the family

1. Parents

   • Believe they have responsibility to get married and have children.
     • God blessed them and said to them, "Be fruitful and increase in number; fill the earth and subdue it." (Genesis 1:28)
   • Parents should love, support, care for their children. While keeping them safe.
   • Christian parents raise their children Christian. They christen, introduce them to the community etc.

2. Children

   • Children should honour and obey their parents. The bible said this.
   • Expected to care for their parents in their old age. Just as they cared for them.

3. Church teachings

   • Church is seen as a family that they belong to.
   • They can provide support for the family when they face problems.

4. Importance of the family

   • Strengthens society, providing support and structure.
   • Normally where people feel safest since they are with the people they love.
   • Adam and Eve are an example that Christians want to follow to please God.

5. Responses

   • Many Christians know that there are many different types of family and accept that they too can provide support.
