Thriller
Camera
- Chosen Director: Steven Spielburg
- Track in shots: An effective way to slowly make clear a antagonistic force, in a significant moment in a characters story. This is typically done by having a medium close-up to a large close-up, where the background is blurred, and the movement is smooth.
- Sideways tracking shots: A shot which slowly follows a character walking, where visual texture would be added through a variety of objects shown to the camera, adding to the richness of the frame and the visual perception of movement.
- Over the shoulder shots: This is where a shoulder occupies an unusually large amount of the screen, which can create tension within the audience through the audience not knowing who the shoulder belongs to, and could be used effectively in thriller to let the audience know that a shocking scene is about to occur.
- Match Cuts: This is where the second shot matches an element in the first shot, and could be used in a flashback sequence of a particular area, only to show the area now.
- Varied Shot Compilations in a singular shot: This is an effect commonly used by Spielberg, where multiple shot compositions are included in one singular shot, for example, a shot moving from a wide shot to a close-up, which could be effective in Thriller. for example, if a scene was to reveal something substantial relating to the plot, they could show a full shot of the important item, before panning to a close-up, for added dramatic effect.

Editing
- Pace
- Pace is how quickly or slowly a movie is moving, and is commonly used for dramatic effect. For a thriller movie, a pace could take a variety of ways. For example, it could begin with a slow, ominous pace, as various discoveries are made clear to the audiance, but as a potential climax arises, the pace would become faster and faster.
- Continuity Editing
- This is where shots, all from seperate angles, are put together. This is to help the audience to see continuity within the film, and helps for a sense of continuous movement is created.
- Freezeframe
- When a pause effect is created to emphasise an important moment in a film.

Lighting
- Mood and Meaning
- Low key lighting: This is where the fill lighting used is minimized, where in result of it have more shadows to be created. For Thriller, this would be effective in causing the audience to feel tension through the lighting, and helps set the mood.
- Silhouettes: This is where a solid dark image is created on a wall of a person or an object, which is created depending on the lighting of the room. This can be used to generate dramatic suspense in the audience .
