1. solid state (flash) storage

   • advantages
     • Solid state is more durable than optical storage because discs can snap and scratch
     • Has the fastest read/write speed out of all three options therefore it will load programmes quickly and download software the fastest
   • disadvantages
     • Less cost effective in comparison to magnetic storage because it has a smaller capacity therefore it will not be able to carry as much data

2. Optical storage

   • Advantages
     • It is the most accessible out of the three and are usable on pretty much everything besides a few games consoles
   • Disadvantage : easily scratched or broken

3. Magnetic storage

   • Highest capacity out of the three
   • slowest read/write speed
