1. Hester

   • Told by Chillingworth her "A" might be removed
     • Hester is unaccepting of it being removed by someone, believing it is a part of her now
   • Confronts Chillingworth about Dimmesdale
     • Proposes to reveal Chillingworth's real identity to Dimmesdale
       • This is to reduce Dimmesdale's torment of guilt

2. Chillingworth

   • Asked by Hester to stop tormenting Dimmesdale
     • Rejected, as Dimmesdale has ruined his life, Chillingworth is set on revenge
   • Is becoming more and more sinister / devilish / evil
     • Noticed by Hester

3. Dimmesdale's Torment

   • Chillingworth won't stop out of revenge
   • Chillingworth has discovered for sure that Dimmesdale is Hester's lover
     • Will help motivate him to complete his revenge all the more
