1. Mechanical

   • Mechanical waves move through a medium or a substance.
   • All types of sound, including music and spoken language, as well as the ocean waves in our scenario are examples of mechanical waves.
   • They move through a medium, such as the metal tracks, air or water

2. Electromagnetical

   • are light wave
   • Examples: Microwave, light, cellphone...
   • they propagate energy forward, but do not use a medium

3. Types of waves

   • Microwaves
     • device called a "microwave" uses energy in microwaves to vibrate food molecules, heating them up.
   • Visible light waves
     • Your eyes are organs that detect only a frequency in the visible light spectrum of the electromagnetic waves.
     • Different frequencies of visible light are detected as different colors.
   • X-Ray waves
     • An X-ray machine uses X-ray waves to penetrate through an object. X-rays pass through less dense objects and get absorbed by more dense objects.
   • Gamma Ray waves
     • Gamma rays are mostly produced in nuclear reactions. These reactions include fusion, fission, alpha decay, and gamma decay.
     • Radiation therapy is used as medical treatment to kill newer cancer cells.
   • Radio Waves
     • device called a "radio" detects radio waves and converts that signal into what a speaker turns into sound.
   • Ultra violet waves
     • Waves will get increasingly energetic, penetrating, and dangerous as frequency increases from ultra violet light, to X-Ray, and finally Gamma.
     • Some devices use UV light to sterilize surfaces and objects of microorganisms.
   • Infrared Waves
     • Infrared waves are commonly used in devices like remote controls to transmit a signal in the IR range.
