   • Windows
     • Area of the screen devpted to a program
   • Icons
     • Pictures that represent a program
   • Menus
     • A list of options that can be selected
   • Pointers
     • Arrow on screen controlled by a pointing device
   • Appropriate for all users of any ability
   • Uses up a lot of memory and restricts advanced users

6. Command-based interface

   • User enters commands to the computer
   • Useful when memory is limited
   • Suited to expertusers
   • Used when need to carry out complex instructions
   • Commands have to be remembered
   • Spelling errors are not tolerated
   • Possible to damage computer

7. Natural language

   • Use ordinary everyday sentences to ask questions and can expect a human like response
   • Allows users to use own language to communicate
   • Not always very accurate
   • Very unrealistic

8. Forms dialogue

   • Tick boxes
     • Allows users to enter any text
   • Buttons
     • Used to confirm all other selections
   • Drop down boxes
     • Allows users to choose
   • Spinners
     • Used when options can change in a sequence
   • Text boxes
     • Users can select multipule options
   • Radio buttons
     • User can select only one option
   • The computer outputs seperate prompts and response fields foa a number of inputs
   • Uses labels to help users
   • Data entry boxes can also be validated
