Ring Network

Ring Network

1. Peer to peer as there is no server

   • All computers are arranged in a circle
   • Data sent by one computer passes around the ring until it reaches the correct computer

2. Advantages

   • Network is not dependent on one computer
   • Each computer has equal status so no one computer can 'hog' the network

3. Disadvantages

   • A break in communication (wire or wireless) means the whole network goes down
   • Faults are difficult to locate
   • Impossible to keep network running when new equipment is added or removed
