Why was the 1905 revolution a failure?
- Social parties
- All of the parties had one thing in common - to overthrow
the Tsar. However all of the social parties were divided.
- Most of them disagreed with each other and this
weakened the strength between the parties
- Different agendas
- Each party had different agendas, for example the Kadets and
the octoberists did wanted to keep the Tsar government. They
wanted reform but in a non-violent way and a respectable way
to the Tsar.
- Peasents just wanted land and
the division of the states.
- Lenin promised peace and land to the people
- October manifesto
- The october manifesto was between Witte and Nicolas II.
Nicolas was losing support and gaining a lot of opposition. In
which Nicolas's only demand was to make reforms.
- The october manifesto consisted of Civil Liberities which is
freedom of speech
- He created a Duma, this was a legislation body
- The manifesto satifised much of the liberals. However the
social democratic parties who followed marxist ideas e.g the
bolsheviks still wanted more reform. The october manifesto
wasn't enough
- The army
- The population and the parties were so divided, that the
1905 was bound to fail.
- The army was on the Tsar's side which meant that if the
nation wanted to go on strike, then the Tsar could
suppress this idea.
