Cognititive Development takes place in stages
- Sensorimotor Stage (0-2) using senses to explore
- Pre-operational Stage (2-7) language and play used to understand concepts
- Concrete Operations Stage (7-11) logical thought develops, can categorise and work in numbers
- Formal Operations Stage (11+)
Critics say development is not staged but continuous
