Rigid Transformations_1

1. ROTATION

   • The distance from the center to any point on the shape that stays the same.
     • Every point makes a circle around the center.
       • Figures can be turned in different directions.

2. REFLECTION

   • Every point is the same distance from the central line.
     • The central line is called the mirror line.
       • The reflected image is always the same size, it just faces the other way.
     • A reflection is a flip over a line.
     • Each corner can be labeled with letters, and a prime to mark each corner of the reflected image.

3. TRANSLATION

   • Moving: Without rotating, resizing, or anything else, JUST MOVING
   • Every point of the shape must move in the same distance and direction.
     • Translations can be done either by angles-and-distance or, by x-and-y
