2. Definitions

   • Workbook
     • Entire spreadsheet, many worksheets included
   • Worksheet
     • Individual sheets eg. fees, mortgage model
   • Row
     • Identified using numbers go horizontally
   • Column
     • Identified using letters go vertically
   • Cell
     • Single block with the grid of the spreadsheet eg. A1
   • Range
     • A group of cells given a name or identified by their cell reference (A2:G2) used in functions

3. Formula

   • The way a calculation is represented in a spreadsheet =A1+B1

4. Rules

   • A set of procedures that must be followed
     • Could be a sequence of events for a calculation to work

5. Functions

   • Predefined, complex formulas
     • Vlookup
     • IF
     • SUM
     • MAX

6. Cell Referencing

   • Absolute cell reference
     • When a cell reference in a formula needs to stay the same
     • Use the $ between the letter + number eg. A$1
   • Relative cell reference
     • When a cell in a formula needs to change when dragged
