1. Motherboard

   • Circuit board that connects the CPU to the memory and other hardware

2. RAM

   • RANDOM ACCESS MEMORY: type of computer memory that can be accessed randomly; that is, any byte of memory can be accessed without touching the bytes

3. ROM

   • READ ONLY MEMORY: storage that permanently stores data on personal computers (PCs) and other electronic devices

4. Video Cards

   • circuit board controlling output to a display screen

5. Sound Cards

   • a device that can be slotted into a computer to allow the use of audio components for multimedia applications

6. Hard Drives

   • PORTABLE HARD DRIVES: can be taken everywhere with you and could store all information needed STABLE HARD DRIVE: is in the actual computer and whenever you save something, it is saved on the stable hard drive

7. Software

   • Application
     • software program which enables you to perform a range of useful tasks
   • Operating System
     • software that supports a computer's basic functions, such as scheduling tasks, executing applications, and controlling peripherals
   • System
     • set-up consisting of hardware, software, data and the people who use them
