  1. 1) report everything
    1. witnesses are encouraged to include every little detail of the event, even though it may seem irrelevant
    2. 2) mental reinstatement
      1. witness should return to he original crime scene in their mind and imagine the environment (e.g. what the weather was like, what they could see) and their emotions
      2. 3) reverse order
        1. events recalled in a different chronological order (e.g. from the back to beginning) -prevents people using their scripts and prevents dishonesty
        2. 4) change perspective
          1. witnesses should recall the incident from other peoples perspectives
          2. reduced anxiety, minimising distractions, getting he witness to speak slowly and asking open ended questions
            1. evaluation
              1. time consuming
                1. police are reluctant to do the CI as it is a lot more time consuming than SI
                  1. also needs special training
                  2. some elements may be more valuable than others
                    1. milne and bull found that a combination of report everything and metal reinstatement produced better recall than any of the others
                    2. meta analysis by Kohnken et al combined data from 50 studies
                      1. found enhanced CI consistently provided more correct info than SI
