Iago Character Development Act 1 Scene 2

In the presence of Othello, Iago pretends to be loyal. For this he gains Othello's approval. Repeatedly, Iago tries to provoke Othello to take action against Brabantio, in order to cause further trouble to Othello.

"He will divorce you,

Or put upon you what restraint or grievance

The law-with all his might to inforce it on-

Will give him cable."

Nobody realises that Iago is playing a double game, and he uses this to his advantage.
