How to use the GERUNDIO
and the INFINITIVE in
English
An infinitive is the verb form that takes “to” at the beginning
Examples: to do
to sleep
to love
to create
For example, "She sleeps" does not contain the infinitive of the verb "to sleep". But it has been conjugated in the third person of the present simple of the verb “to sleep”: sleeps
Gerunds are formed by adding "-ing" to the verb: "sleeping", "drawing", "swimming". But they do not correspond to the verbal forms of "-ing" that you see in the present past tense or continuous past tense
Let's take the verb "to sleep" and use it in two different sentences:
I am sleeping.
I'm sleeping.
