SIMPLE, COMPOUND AND COMPLEX SENTENCES.
COMPOUND: two or more independent clauses.
SIMPLE: One independent clause.
Mary went to work. John went to the party.
CLAUSES: Subject + verb sentence. It can also have adverbs, adjectives, prepositional phrases, direct and indirect objects. Also may have two subjects, two verbs or both.
I cook the breakfast.
The museum was very interesting, as I expected.
COMPLEX: An independent clause and a dependent clause.
