Subject Complements
A complement is a word or that complete the meaning of the verb and in the case of a subject complement it is going to be completing something about the subject.
Subject complement comes in two flavors
predicate nominative
Predicate adjective
The noun names something, so the predicate nominative names what the subject is and connects it to the verb and to a noun or pronoun.
when the verb is linked to a subject and to an adjective that describes something about that subject it is called an adjective predicate
