- We use articles:
- before nouns, e.g. people, places, objects or ideas.
- Articles tell us something about the noun.

- 1. uSE OF THE
- There is only one of something or it is unique in context. Example: The sun is shining.
- We mention something for the second time or it is clear what we are talking about. Example: I went to a party. The party was really fun.
- Talking about musical instruments. Example: John plays the piano.
- Referring to places in a city when it is clear which one we mean. Example: We need to go to the supermarket.

- 2.Use of A / AN
- We talk about something for the first time, not specific. Example: I saw a dog in the park.
- We describe jobs or professions. Example: She is an engineer.
- We use singular countable nouns referring to something non-specific. Example: She wants to buy an umbrella.

- 3. NO article
- Talking about languages. Example: They study French at school.
- Using plural countable nouns to talk about things in general. Example: Smartphones are very useful nowadays.
