1968: US troops reached

1972 December: heavy American bombing campaigns force peace talks

1973 January 27: after 50000 American casualties, a cease-fire is signed in Paris1973

1973 March 27: the US personnel levels are reduced to less than 100 as the Republic of South Vietnam assumes military control

1974 December 13: North Vietnam violates the Paris peace treaty by attacking Phuoc Long Province

1975 April 29: the North Vietnamese army marches toward Saigon

1975 April 29-30: operation frequent wind evacuates 1373 Americans and 5595 Vietnamese

2010: many of these Vietnamese refugees relocated to southern California where today they continue to thrive
