Cranial Nerves, Spinal Nerves (PNS) - 4WHAT IS A SENSORY NEURON?They are the messages going from receptors to the brain and spinal cord. They control how we: See, Smell, Taste, Touch, Hear.
- 5WHAT IS A MOTOR NEURON?Nerve cells that carry messages from the CNS to effectors.
- 6WHAT IS MYELIN SHEATH?The layer that covers a neurone.
- 7WHAT ARE RECEPTORS?Special cells that detect stimuli.
- 8WHAT ARE EFFECTORS?Muscles or glands that put the messages into effect.
- 9WHAT ARE NEUROTRANSMITTERS?Chemical messages released at the end of an axon to be received by the next neurones dendrites.
- 10HOW DOES OUR BODY RESPOND TO A CHANGE IN TEMPERATURE?Done through homeostasis. Various receptors and effectors react to ensure such conditions remain favourable.
- 11HOW DOES YOUR BODY RESPOND TO STRESS?Your heart pounds faster, muscles tighten, blood pressure rises and and you breathe quicker.
