Question Answer
Whenever you're clicking around on a website, you're going through 3 different types of mental processes. These are know as loads. 1. Cognitive: the things you're thinking about or remembering. 2. Visual: the things you are seeing on the screen. 3: Motor: mouse movements, button clicking...that sort of thing.
This is Fitt's Law that can mathematically determine motor loads. It makes about as much sense to me as it does to you. It's just a fancy way of finding out how big or how close to make a target easier to hit
That's what that whole Fitt's thing is about. Make people move less, and think less to hit a target. This decreases certain mental loads, and can make the experience better for the user.
There is no example 2. I can show you that equation again if you want. The simple fact is this: Keep in mind the mental processes your user has to go through. Trade off one load for another. More movement for less thinking, or less visuals for faster movement.
