4. The Baroque spirit. Architecture and sculpture

–Realism was used to heighten emotions

- The main feature of Baroque architecture was the desire to incorporate a sense of movement.

- Movement was exaggerated through the effects of light and shade. The interiors were elaborately decorated

- Baroque sculptors wanted to represent movement and naturalism.

-Figures are captured in the middle of an action.

- Marble and bronze were the most popular materials with religious and mythological scenes
