1. The number of transistors in a dense integrated circuit doubles approximately every two years.

2. Named after Gordon Moore

   • Co-founder of the intel corporation
   • He was the first person to describe the trend

3. Microprocesser

   • Computer processor that incorporates the functions of a CPU on a single integrated circuit
   • Programmable device that accepts digital data as input
   • Components external to the cpu are called peripherals
     • Eg secondary storage
   • Processes digital data according to instructions stored in its memory
