1. Scene 1

   • Banquo and Fleance go for a horse ride
     • Macbeth persuades the murderers on why they should kill Banquo
       • Macbeth instructs the murderers on what to do

2. Scene 2

   • The Macbeths tell of their apocalyptic dreams
     • Macbeth hints at Banquo's death
       • Lady Macbeth does know of the plan

3. Scene 3

   • Banquo is killed
     • Fleance escapes

4. Scene 4

   • The ghost of Banquo haunts Macbeth at the feast
     • Macbeth is fearful when he sees the ghost
       • Lady Macbeth ushers the guests out

5. Scene 5

   • Hecate scolds the witches for telling Macbeth's future
     • Hecate feels that Macbeth is unworthy as he will try to resist his fate
       • Hecate predicts Macbeth would come soon and predicted Macbeth's reactions to the prophecies

6. Scene 6

   • Summary of what has happened so far
     • Macduff and Malcolm have seeked help from King Edward to fight Macbeth
       • Hope for returning to peaceful order
