The colour
- Color is part of the real world, nature and objects. The color are yellow, green or red tones than the objects they reflect when light hits them. The eyes absorb the reflected light produced by colors and transmit it to the brain.
- Newton successfully isolated a beam of white light. When By passing it through a glass prism, Newton discovered that the ray turned into a spectrum of separate colors. According to the results of this experiment, Newton He showed that light is unity and color is part of it.
- Primary colours
- There are 3 primary primary colors blue-violet, green and Red. Mixtures of these colors create all other colors. The colors produced by lights used in television, movies, computers ... they originate from these three colors of light.
- Complementary colors of light produce a color practically white when are they mixed. Combining primary colors with secondaries we get complements.
- Yellow, cyan, and magenta are the secondary colors. They are obtained by mixing primary colors.
Qualities of the colours
- The tone is the attribute that is given to a color to make it different from another color. Each shade is given a name like red, orange, yellow ... There are intermediate shades yellowish green, greenish blue, reddish orange ...
- The value of a color depends on the amount of white or black that is in its composition. We use this value to indicate the level of lightness of a color. Adding black or white to the color makes it easier to transition from light to dark. This is known as a color gradient. Other terms used to refer to the value are brightness, luminance.
- Saturation is the property that indicates the purity of the color. The primary colors have the highest saturation while grays have the lowest saturation levels.
- Colour wheel
- The color wheel is the representation used to show the colors and see the interrelation between them. It's divided in three groups: primary, secondary and tertiary.
Colour mixtures
- A harmony is a combination of colors that produces color effects. We can create harmony by consonance or analogy
- Contrast occurs when the colors in a composition have nothing in common. The greater the difference, the greater the contrast. The contrast between complementary colors is when a primary color and its complementary color are placed together.
Colour classification system
- Color classification systems organize colors based on hue, value, and saturation.
- Albert Hickethier's color classification system is based on a figure that at the bottom contains the color black and at the top the color white. In the rest of the figure, it has the three basic colors and the three secondary colors.
- This system, designed by Wilhelm Ostwald, recognizes primaries and secondaries and the arranged on a color wheel at their maximum saturations. In the common circumference, puts 24 color shades ranging from yellow to to red, purple and blue and back to yellow. At the top is white and on the bottom, black.
- The symbolism of color covers various fields such as fashion, folklore, sports, and ethnography. This symbolism is related to cultural, social or historical phenomena.
