Network Security Threats

  1. Trojan horse

    • Accesses a computer by pretending to be a legitimate software, allows access to the computer for an unauthorised user without the user knowing.
  2. Virus

    • They usually transmit themselves via an email ,file and other programs. They transfer from computer to computer very easily.
  3. Phishing

    • A scam which usually comes from a text or an email which cons its victims into thinking an organisation has contacted them. Manipulating the victims to give in personal details.
    • ways to know if its a scam: -Bad grammar -not including your name
  4. Social engineering

    • Techniques used to manipulate people to enable them to access confidential information.
    • We can prevent this by training staff to ask more questions and be more suspicous
  5. Brute Force Attack

    • This can be prevented by using a two step verification. Meaning that hackers will not receive the verification code which is needed to log into an account.
      • Only the user with the phone connected to the account can access the account this way.
      • Always have a strong secure password.
    • When an unauthorized user repeatedly tries passwords in an attempt to hack the account.
      • Sometimes they manage to do it, so this is why we have a two step verification, so they can't go any furthur
