   • can be used of different devices (computer, tablet, smartphone, etc.)
   • can be used on different operating systems (windows, mac, etc.)

2. backing up files online means saving them to external servers.

   • if the users computer fails, the files are saved on servers else where and would still be safe.
   • cloud storage is often also backed up so there is double security.

3. advantages of standalone software

   • as it is installed onto the hard drive, it can be used when there is no internet access.
   • it runs faster then online software with a poor internet coonnection
