1. Rack Numbering and labeling

   • Grid location numbering combination of alphanumeric characters : Rack 003-N ( Rack 3 Row N)
   • Grid location numbering using combination of numeric characters : Rack 003-014 ( Rack 14 Row 3 )
   • Grid location numbering for large equipment pick bottom-left as identifier : Rack 003-014 ( Storage Rack )
   • Pick bottom-left corner as identifier Equipment location 024 ( U's )

2. Labeling of UPS, PDU's,etc

   • Use a meaningful and simple scheme - UPS-1 / PDU-1 Label each beaker on all switch boards - breaker number and phase ( Eg. R12) Label each high power cable - at minimum at both ends - preference also at each 2-3 meters Label each power socket / rack power strip/rail - PDF, phase and breaker ( PDU1-R12) Ensure that ALL labels are unique - no duplication such as UPS-1 in a different part of the building

3. Labeling of network cabling

   • TIA-606 labeling standard for network You can use color coding cables  - red, high secure network - purple from data centre to meet-me room -etc label at least to-from info at patch panel rack level - Rack 1-N to 4A Labeling to device/port level is better but time consuming
