- Graduated from the University of St. Andrews (1529)
- By his studies, Bible reading habit, he became someone who cared about theology, politics and social things
- He soon became a bishop in the Roman Catholic Church, but couldn't find a parish to be the bishop
- No parish. Became a papal notary, to take care of the things of the church in Scotland (Catholic churches are rich)
